Big day yesterday, the quick release leg has become a reality. Not that it was critical for the concept, but it will show all the better with this feature. Now it is time to get busy.
Pictured are two sides of the latest prototype. The center is wrapped in the stainless steel foil I purchased long ago. Currently I am at a standstill as I work through an issue with the adjustable legs. I intended to incorporate a quick release for the bolt. Perhaps I may have to drop these heady ideals. December has been a little dismal for the Miter Horse project. We have learned a few things, but the new modules are - in my opinion - not show worthy. They came out entirely too chunky and heavy. I have a bead on what I believe will be a show worthy design, and yes, I have had that thought many times before, but this time... I failed to mention the outcome of my application to gain funding through a government Department of Defense program called DARPA. Not that I am surprised of the outcome, just a little disappointed I failed to convince them otherwise, I guess the proposed concept just didn't have enough destructive force!!
I am always amazed - just when you feel the bugs are worked out, you find it is time to revisit the drawing board. To answer the plastic question from my earlier post.... I am going to stick with a medium I am familiar. There are still many design issues to nail down before I venture into an area I know little. |
